There are about 165 nationwide-out of more than 24,000-and they are concentrated mostly in Eastern states. Selective public high schools are a rare phenomenon. What we should be asking, however, is should we have exam schools at all? Reformers want new measures for admittance, measures they hope will diversify the schools’ student populations. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science-should keep the same rigid admissions requirements they’ve had for decades: a mix of a test scores and students’ GPAs. Traditionalists argue the three- Boston Latin School, Boston Latin Academy, and the John D. The school is also an associate partner college of Plymouth University.People are up in arms about Boston’s exam schools. Some courses are offered in conjunction with Lipson Co-operative Academy and Sir John Hunt Community Sports College. Tor Bridge High offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels, OCR Nationals and further BTECs. However Tor Bridge High continues to coordinate with Plymouth City Council for admissions. The school is now part of the Tor Bridge Partnership which includes Plym Bridge Nursery, Tor Bridge Primary School and Cann Bridge School. Previously a community school administered by Plymouth City Council, Tor Bridge High converted to academy status on 1 August 2011.
